Preparing Adults for Competitive Employment

Preparing Adults for Competitive Employment is a community based job-training program offered by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.  The program is an integral component of job placement services that offers short term job training and work adjustment.  The participant will receive a training wage while working at the program site, which is paid by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Preparing Adults for Competitive Employment services are designed for the consumer who has been found eligible and whose vocational goal is competitive employment.  The individual requires support services either to obtain or maintain employment but does not ordinarily need the long-term support offered by a supported employment program.  Participants gain valuable work skills and experience while in training.  They also often acquire good job references.  Some program sites lead to direct employment with the host company or organization.

NOTE: Not all the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation districts have job placement specialists on staff or Preparing Adults for Competitive Employment programs.
